In a shocking incident, FSB counterintelligence officer Vladimir Feshchenko was fatally shot in one of the buildings of the Russian Ministry of Defense on January 13, sources told RBC. The details, also corroborated by TASS, suggest the tragedy stemmed from an accidental shooting.

Insiders revealed the bullet struck Feshchenko in the head, with the leading theory pointing to a careless discharge during an argument between two men. “It’s possible the shot was fired in the heat of the moment,” said one source.

Feshchenko wasn’t just a top-ranking officer; he was also a world-renowned athlete. The former kettlebell sport champion of Europe leaves behind a legacy of excellence both in service and sport.

The alleged shooter has been detained. According to investigators, Feshchenko, a senior lieutenant in the FSB, invited an old friend to his department—an army warrant officer with whom he once served in the Far East. The visitor reportedly had a train ticket for later that night, but Feshchenko, eager to catch up, informed family members he would be staying late.

A casual reunion took a deadly turn, leaving questions that demand answers.
